Our History

Originally from Toronto, Paul Gonyea began his eaves trough business in 1985, and maintained his business while employed by the Toronto Transit Commission as a maintenance supervisor with an electronics degree. On his first visit to the Minden area in 1994, Paul and his wife Janette felt so welcomed by the people of the Haliburton Highlands that they wanted to become a part of the community as soonGonyea Eaves, Siding and Renovations as possible. In fact, the very next weekend, they purchased a cottage on Brady Lake, where they spent the next several years renovating and winterizing it, with the idea of moving their family north once the cottage was complete. By the spring of 2001, Paul left the TTC in Toronto, after 17 years employment, and moved his business, now called Gonyea Eaves, Siding & Renovations, to the Minden area. Since then, the business has expanded to include many facets of renovation, including both interior and exterior work, new construction for additions, garages, decks and bunkies, and repair work on existing structures. In the fall 0f 2003, due to the response from home owners, businesses and contractors, Paul opened an office and showroom at the corner of Main Street and Highway 35 in Minden, to make his business more accessible to previous and new customers.

On a personal note

Paul and Janette have 3 children. Their family is rounded out with Janette’s mother, Maria, and their latest addition, a rambunctious puppy named Buddy. Paul plays hockey through the winter months, baseball in summer. He has recently been invited to join the Haliburton Builder’s Association.
